Archival and Library Research

During the period from April 7 to April 11, Prof. Dr. Jasmina Vojvodić stayed in Prague at the Klementinum National Library (National Library of the Czech Republic). In the Slavic section of the library, J. Vojvodić conducted research and prepared a presentation for a project workshop scheduled for September 2026.

In February 2026, Danijela Lugarić Vukas worked at East European History and Slavonic Studies Library at Campus of the University in Vienna, and gathered materials for following activities: a) the conference Левкинские чтения: культурные трансформации в 1русскоязычном пространстве. XXI век (organized by the Slavic Studies Centre of the Department of European Languages at the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Latvia and the Centro Interuniversitario per lo Studio della Cultura e della Controcultura Postsovietica – CCƆP, March 2026, Turin, Italy); and

b) the conference Prezentizam (organized by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb) and the workshop Affects and Effects: Comparing Post-Socialist Wars (Berlin, Germany). Both activities will be held in May 2026.

The collected materials (books and articles), yet unavailable at her home institution, primarily concern the cultural and historical specificities of the watershed year 1989, as well as theoretical sources necessary for exploring particular type of document (archive, testimony, body, cultural artifact) in post-1989 literature, the one that ceases to function as a guarantor of truth or a means of reconstructing the past and instead begins to operate as a mechanism for the production of presentness.

In addition, during her stay in Vienna, Lugarić Vukas visited the recently opened Russian-language bookstore Babel Books and the temporary exhibition Documents of Injustice. The Case of Freud at the Sigmund Freud Museum. The latter, highly relevant to the project’s topic, is based on thousands of original records, business letters, and lists from the museum’s archive, which reveal the legal and financial modus operandi of the Nazi leadership.
