b) the conference Prezentizam (organized by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb) and the workshop Affects and Effects: Comparing Post-Socialist Wars (Justus Liebig University Giessen, Germany). Both activities will be held in May 2026.
The collected materials (books and articles), yet unavailable at her home institution, primarily concern the cultural and historical specificities of the watershed year 1989, as well as theoretical sources necessary for exploring particular type of document (archive, testimony, body, cultural artifact) in post-1989 literature, the one that ceases to function as a guarantor of truth or a means of reconstructing the past and instead begins to operate as a mechanism for the production of presentness.
In addition, during her stay in Vienna, Lugarić Vukas visited the recently opened Russian-language bookstore Babel Books and the temporary exhibition Documents of Injustice. The Case of Freud at the Sigmund Freud Museum. The latter, highly relevant to the project's topic, is based on thousands of original records, business letters, and lists from the museum’s archive, which reveal the legal and financial modus operandi of the Nazi leadership.
